Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
The Assoc Information Developer is a writing member of the IDD team with responsibility for authoring and updating content for BMC software products.
Responsibilities include:
Contribute to the development of high-quality technical documentation by working with writers and engineers to scope, design, edit, and publish technical content as directed by lead information developers and more senior writers.
Interactively contribute to the documentation creation and maintenance process.
Under direction of IDD management and lead information developers, take ownership of the documentation for a product area, follow through and complete the product cycle, and report accurate and timely status for all assignments.
Work with reviewers to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of content according to prescribed project deliverables and schedules.
Gain awareness of customer issues and documentation usage from a customer perspective through field reports and IDD customer feedback
Balance work volume and quality, and appropriately escalate issues to management.
Collaborate with senior writers and editors in all locations to ensure adherence to the prescribed style guide for the seamless flow of information to our customers.
Monitor problem tracking to identify documentation problems or changes and trends in product usability issues.
Work with lead information developers and editors to understand concepts for optimizing documentation.
Initiate and recommend creative ways to improve technical information deliverables and processes.
Maintain a good working relationship with individuals internal and external to IDD and BMC.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience developing technical documentation for enterprise software audiences
Hands-on experience with accepted team collaboration, authoring and publishing tools
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work with global and culturally diverse departments and groups
Ability to adjust priorities and quickly learn new technologies and software applications
Ability to effectively handle multiple projects
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and software applications
DESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) SKILLS:
Recent experience developing documentation with a wiki authoring tool
Experience writing documentation for mainframe technologies or applications (Added advantage)
