This hybrid position requires two days per week in our San Francisco office. About you You’re an analytical problem-solver ready to put your skills toward purposeful work that has a global impact. About this role We currently have an econometric pricing model that we use to estimate course demand on Udemy. You’ll be part of a team of 4 data scientists on our Pricing Data Science team who will research and build new functionality for this model, including: Adding competitive cross-price effects to our model, improving existing model features, and exploring alternative economic and machine learning model designs. What you'll be doing Interact with the team of Data Scientists that created our current model. Research existing economics and econometrics literature for methods that may improve the existing model. Become familiar with our data tools and infrastructure. Become familiar with new large datasets and building data pipelines from raw data sources as needed. Create and test new features / variables to be included in the model. Build and test a new econometric pricing model, and report out findings to senior Data leaders. What you’ll have Current student in Economics, Econometrics, or quantitative business school Ph.D. program strongly preferred, but non-Ph.D. track students will be considered for exceptional candidates. 1+ years of experience with Python coding, and familiarity with standard modules such as pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, etc. 1+ years of experience with SQL, and demonstrated ability to write complex queries to transform and pull data from our Redshift and Databricks warehouses. Graduate coursework in Econometrics, and familiarity with empirical estimation of price elasticities. Experience with AWS Sagemaker and cloud-based tools for machine learning model development and deployment. Applied Industrial Organization or Applied Econometrics background would be ideal.
