At Stitch Fix, we believe that humans and machines are better together. Because of our unique business model, we receive lots of client feedback in the form of free text. We are looking for a data science intern to help us derive insight from this unique data source, surface it to our merchandise partners, and identify ways this data can support our merchandise algorithmic capabilities. The internship is located in downtown San Francisco and will last for 12 weeks throughout the summer. The ideal candidate loves taking a unique dataset and building something completely new from it. You should be excited to use your Python and natural language processing (NLP) experience to take unstructured data and problems and turn it into something that delivers value to our business partners and clients. Work with our merchandise partners to understand how they currently rely on client feedback, and identify better ways of surfacing this information. Enhance your programming skills by leveraging our in-house tools and data infrastructure to deliver NLP derived data in a scalable manner. Learn from other data scientists and work collaboratively to identify promising avenues for incorporating NLP derived features within our merchandise algorithmic capabilities. Deliver your research and findings to the data science team. We're excited about you because... You are a graduate student (or recent grad) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related technical field. You are experienced with NLP techniques and enjoy deriving insight from unstructured free text. You have experience with both SQL and the Python programming language. You are comfortable working with others and have the ability to understand the difference between what partners want vs. what would be best for our business and clients.
