Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for a Cybersecurity Analyst at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, IL office. The Cybersecurity Analyst supports areas of Threat Intelligence and Cybersecurity Operations and protects information system assets, averts data loss incidents, and mitigates cybersecurity threats. The Cybersecurity Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams, upholds security operations programs, and advances security architecture solutions. What you’ll experience working at UL: Monitor security alerts, network traffic, and user activities to identify and address potential security incidents promptly. Execute incident response activities, document and report incidents, and coordinate with IT teams and business units. Manage SIEM for log parsing, fine-tuning, and harnessing analysis for threat detection. Monitor data flows, network traffic, and user activities to detect and prevent potential data loss risks. Manage Data Loss Prevention technologies and tools, encompassing data classification, encryption, and access controls. Investigate security events, categorize incidents, and escalate critical issues for further scrutiny and response. Conduct thorough analysis and investigation of security incidents, identifying root causes and impacts. Generate clear and concise reports detailing findings, incident specifics, analysis outcomes, and suggested actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align security efforts with organizational objectives and priorities. Effectively communicate with stakeholders to raise awareness regarding data protection risks and recommended mitigation strategies. Perform other duties as assigned. What makes you a great fit: Proficient in security operations, understanding of Blue Team and incident response tactics. Familiarity with security technologies and tools, including IDS/IPS, firewalls, proxies, SIEM, EDR, and malware analysis. Outstanding communication and analytical skills, with the ability to thrive in a diverse environment. Understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks. Logical thinking ability to translate security requirements into precise plans to mitigate risk. Relevant certifications such as CEH, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus. Professional education and experience requirements for the role include: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field. Minimum 2 years of directly related experience. Experience with cloud security platforms and commercial security management tools.
