Key Responsibilities: Training: Participate in structured training programs to learn medical coding procedures, terminology, and compliance requirements. Coding: Assist with coding and classifying medical diagnoses and procedures according to standard coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS). Documentation Review: Review medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of information for coding purposes. Quality Assurance: Support efforts to maintain coding accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, billing staff, and other departments to resolve coding-related issues and ensure smooth workflow. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest coding guidelines, industry changes, and advancements in medical coding. Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Computer Proficiency: Basic knowledge of computer applications and software. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) is a plus. Certification: While not required at the time of hire, obtaining certification such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is encouraged and supported.
