This role is a full-time role with Edify Engineering and the selected candidate will be fully dedicated to support our client, Energy Vault with their Renewable Energy Storage projects globally.
Energy Vault is the creator of renewable energy storage products that are transforming the worlds approach to utility-scale energy storage for grid resiliency. Our client’s comprehensive offerings include our proprietary gravity, battery, hybrid/green hydrogen energy storage solutions and our technology-agnostic software suite that orchestrates and integrates multiple energy asset types (storage & generation) while optimizing dispatch, costs, revenues, and overall asset performance.
About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Technical Writer to create and maintain high-quality documentation for our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) products. As a Technical Writer in our engineering department, you will collaborate with our engineering, product, project, corporate communications, and commercial teams to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly high-quality content tailored to diverse audiences, including internal teams, external clients, and regulatory bodies. You are an ideal candidate if you have excellent English language written communication skills, experience with document preparation and publishing tools, and have extensive knowledge of energy storage technologies, energy management systems, power generation systems, and sustainable business design. You will be responsible for content creation, editorial review, and verification of technical and commercial documentation alike.
What you will do
Develop, edit, and maintain technical documents such as:
Specification sheets
Installation manuals
User manuals
Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals
Safety and compliance documentation
Maintenance procedures
System design specifications
Assist in writing proposals, white papers, and technical marketing content as needed.
Maintain documentation project schedules that complement engineering project schedules and communicate project status on a weekly basis.
Research and collect data through engineering documentation, product specifications and other pertinent available source data.
Collaborate with cross-functional team members including engineering, marketing, manufacturing, customer services, and other project team members to gather and verify technical information.
Create diagrams, charts, and visual aids to enhance comprehension of technical material.
Review and edit content created by subject matter experts to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
Maintain familiarity with the “voice of customer” and related target audiences and documentation needs.
Plan and develop documentation, from original concept through design, outline, writing, editing, artwork, and final publication.
Ensure documentation meets industry standards and supports regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, IEC, NFPA, etc.).
Manage version control and document lifecycle.
Participate in product design meetings and other product-related meetings, providing consequential input.
Communicate well: be direct and concise and listen effectively. Communicate clearly about project directions and status to management and project team members.
Be flexible: adapt to situations and to changing priorities, project assignments and methods of implementation.
Show initiative: initiate activities, gain source data, and develop documentation plans, schedules, and drafts to produce quality documentation on time and within budget.

Qualification Requirements:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical field is preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years direct technical writing experience, preferably in the energy, electrical, or industrial technology sectors.
Technical Skills:
Excellent English grammar and composition skills.
Familiarity with multiple languages is a plus.
Proficiency with computer-based documentation and publishing tools.
Familiarity/experience in electric utility, renewable energy, or energy storage sector.
Knowledge of Lithium-ion batteries and Battery Energy Storage Systems is a plus.
Working understanding of electrical grid requirements is preferred.
Experience in the planning, logistical, and engineering aspects of construction projects is preferred.
Technical understanding of computer and software products relevant to the job.
Ability to use an effective tone when giving and receiving positive and constructive feedback.
Comfort interviewing internal clients.
Prowess gathering necessary technical materials.
Experience collaborating with marketing, engineering, and customer services.
Comfort in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
Experience in public companies is a plus.
