About the Role American Express is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Analyst – Data Science to join its advanced analytics team. The selected candidate will focus on managing and controlling model risk, particularly related to next-generation Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models. This role plays a key part in ensuring model excellence, regulatory compliance, and driving business impact through advanced analytics. Key Responsibilities Conduct independent oversight and validation of enterprise-wide AI/ML-based models across marketing, credit, fraud, and risk domains. Perform gap assessments to strengthen model risk controls and meet evolving regulatory standards. Research and implement cutting-edge AI/ML methodologies to enhance model quality and drive business performance. Present analytical findings and recommendations to business partners, senior management, and model committees. Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate analytical insights into strategic decision-making. Qualifications Education: MBA or Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields from a reputed institution. Experience: 0 – 2 years of experience in Analytics, Big Data, or Data Science domains. Technical Skills Hands-on experience in at least one programming language: Python, R, SQL, or SAS. Strong understanding of machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis. Ability to handle large datasets and apply quantitative techniques effectively. Functional Skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and deliver within tight deadlines. Capable of simplifying and presenting complex analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
